Tanya is the Founder of True North Yoga, opening the doors to the studio in 2017 in the beautiful Barossa, South Australia. Her interest and professional experience in the health and wellness sector since her early 20’s culminated in a dedicated yoga practice over 16 years ago.

Tanya loves yoga for its capacity to build strength and flexibility (physically and in life) but it is the call to calm, center, shift perspective, and set or re-set the day that guides Tanya’s yoga practice.

Tanya has completed over 1500hrs of Yoga Teacher Training including 500hrs-RYT, Pre-Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Psychology & Meditation, Pranayama (Breathwork), Applied Ayurveda, and two trips to India for concentrated study and practice. 

Tanya has also managed and assisted Yoga Teacher Trainings as well as educational workshops, retreats and events with teacher training school Shantarasa Yoga. She holds heartfelt gratitude and reverence for the teachers in her life and their incredible wisdom, experience, and guidance.

Prior to yoga, Tanya’s professional background spanned over a decade in Injury Management and as a Rehabilitation Consultant, and she is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Health Science with the University of South Australia.

Tanya’s current industry registration includes E-RYT 500 (Senior Yoga Teacher 500+hrs) and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) through international peak body, Yoga Alliance.

The True North Yoga community, teachers, and beautiful studio space is a daily source of inspiration to Tanya for which she is grateful everyday.



Emma feels blessed to have the privilege to practice and guide others in the tradition of Yoga.

Like many, Emma sought yoga as a means to keep her body healthy, but quickly learned the profound and transformational effects yoga has on the mind. Emma is passionate about an integrated yoga practice, including meditation and pranayama in all her classes.

Emma recently relocated to the Barossa after eight years in Melbourne. Emma works as an Interior Architect and has recently begun Horticulture studies, with the intention of combining her design skills and experience with her love of nature and plants.



Sarah’s interest in yoga sparked in 2019 when she experienced her first yoga class. This was funnily enough here at True North, where she attended one of Tanya’s yoga and meditation courses. When Sarah moved to Adelaide in 2021 for her tertiary studies her curiosity and exploration of the importance of mind-body connection bloomed.
She began attending the local salty sips at Henley Beach every Wednesday doing a 30-minute yoga class and then jumping in the ocean at 6.00am. It was this community that inspired her through love, kindness, and movement to find out what more yoga had to offer.
Within her studies of alternative medicine and weekly yoga practice, Sarah found that both these fields had this beautiful holistic approach to life allowing us as humans to develop the skills to nourish the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body.
In 2023, she completed her 200-hour Teacher Training with Human.Kind in Adelaide. This training and the people she spent her 200 hours with were the ones that inspired her to teach.

Donna started her personal yoga practice 9 years ago and has gone on to study over 300hrs of yoga teacher training, including Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative yoga with the international Yoga Flow School.

Donna’s yoga teachings have taken her to the Bali jungle to teach Yin and Restorative yoga while on retreat. Her favourite style of yoga is Yin Yoga as it allows the body to find the edge while leaning into those sensations without attachment.

Yoga for Donna is a platform to share connections with her fellow yogis, while continuing to learn more about herself through self study while on the mat.

Leah was first introduced to yoga at the age of 9 when she learned the Salute to the Sun sequence from a speech therapist who was helping her to overcome selective mutism. 

Leah then reconnected with yoga in 1996 at the age of 20 when she went on a quest to find a yoga school for her parents who were interested in starting a practice. She came across the Ryoho Yoga school in Manly whose teachers specialised in a therapeutic style of Japanese yoga, and was hooked from the first class.

Leah has completed over 1000 hours of certified Yoga Teacher Training including Ryoho Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Zenergy Kids Yoga, Zen Ki Yoga, and has achieved diplomas in Macrobiotic Counselling and Ki Shiatsu.

Leah has also trained and worked as a Physical and Health Education teacher in primary and high schools, and has worked as a learning designer with a number of universities in Australia.

Leah’s passion for yoga has helped her to navigate life’s challenges and she loves to share the power of this dynamic and therapeutic yoga practice with others on their healing journey. 



Cathy has had a love of yoga for many years but truly started her yoga journey in 2017 when she began attending True North Yoga Studio.

In 2019 she decided to delve deeper into her practice through participation in Hatha yoga teacher training (study option) with Shantarasa Yoga Darshana which really opened her eyes and her heart to the beauty and depth of Yoga. This year she has been completing Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher training certification with Yoga Trinity.
